On the above article, a speedy tag was placed on the article by me. It was converted to a prod. The author has now removed the prod and as such, it should not be re-applied or a speedy tag placed. At this point it should be nominated as an Article for Deletion. Let me know if you would like me to do that, or are you going to. Thanks--Gay Cdn (talk) (email) (Contr.) 22:36, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello!

edit

Hi FisherQueen. I noticed the great work you are doing tagging new articles—not something newcomers do often. We need all the help we can get (our floodgates are leaking badly). So welcome and keep up the good work. By the way, it's a good practice to leave edit summaries. You can just copy and paste the tags you are using into the edit summary field.

Also note that it is often appropriate to leave a message on a creating user's talk page when tagging. For instance, for articles tagged as db-bio/db-band/db-group, nn-warn or vanity are useful (all of these templates, unlike the db deletion templates, should be substituted and have parameters for the name of the article being referred to in the warning, so you would format them like so: --~~~~). For clear nonsense, attacks, hoaxes, mild vandalism you can use test1article-n, (which succeeds to test2article-n and so on).

For articles that you have prodded (done by placing the prod, template like this ; a very useful template for newpages patrol), you can add to the author's talk page prodwarning. You can explore various templates at Wikipedia:Template messages. I hope this unsolicited advice is not unwelcome. If you have any questions about newpages patrol, or anything else, please do not hesitate to drop me a message.--Fuhghettaboutit 23:00, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hee hee. You'll get there! I think that last warning was a portmanteau of nn-warn and vanity.--Fuhghettaboutit
Whoops. I think I've got it more or less right, now. FisherQueen 12:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh I noticed your problems with adding my toolbox—after I created it, another user liked it and brought it into template. If you want to use it just add . You can then tailor it to your needs. You won't have the overlap problems with your userboxes you did before because the template version doesn't have the markup which forces it to the center of the page.--Fuhghettaboutit 22:40, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Have you been looking out for me? That's kind of cool. Thanks for the advice on stealing your toolbox; that thing is superhelpful.FisherQueen 13:34, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Lol! Um, was that a gentle way of saying why are you scrutinizing me? No, I'm not, but once I edited your page, your userpage was added to my watchlist which I check all the time--I noticed your edit summary regarding problems with the toolbox. I will lose track of you shortly!--Fuhghettaboutit 18:20, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Gracias por empezar el artículo. Tiene rato en mi lista de cosas que hacer. The sad thing is that she was in my office a few months ago, and I neglected to take her photograph. Maybe next time.

Keep up the good work, --Rockero 23:38, 28 September 2006 (UTC) P.S. please remember to include every article in at least one category. Thx.

Prod removal

edit

I just noticed a few prod tags you had replaced in articles after their removal. Prod tags can be removed by anyone, including an article's creator, and should not be replaced as the removal is a protest of deletion without discussion. See Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#Conflicts. Consider taking such articles to AFD. You'll see in many edit summaries there, the rational for deletion, followed by "prod removed," which flags that you didn't come straightaway to the resource intensive afd without attempting a prod first.--Fuhghettaboutit 14:25, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Your deletion of my article

edit

I appreciate your comments, but I must request you restore this article! It is of interest to a community of around a thousand people who regularly view your website. The events chronicled within this page are vital to the history of our community. We have been cast aside by various other websites, where well documented hsitories of our people have simply been wiped out. Erased. Eradicated!

This article is of interest to a large number of people, I feel. And in all fairness, I think that it is likely to generate more views than a number of articles you currently have.

I appreciate your feedback, but please - for the good of my people - restore this article! Wikipedia is like a seal of authority to us. It is all well and good having a website of our own, but without you, we are nothing.

Please, I make this most urgent plea. Restore this page! —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

EDIT

edit

Too late - the article was deleted, and now all my work has been lost. Swallowed up by the abyss. I am sure that this would not have been the case if the worth of my article had been allowed to be proven. But alas, this is not the case. It was doomed to failure, just because the Administrator had no prior knowledge of this particular person, it was wiped out. This is a sad day for humanity, and your wish to censor my work was granted! —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

New Page Patrol

edit

Hey there! I see you've been doing some great work with new page patrol. I especially like that you take the time to leave messages on users' talk pages, letting them know why their article will be deleted. The one thing I wanted to comment on is your use of vanity on users who make attack pages. In those cases, I would use test2 or bv, depending on the severity of the page. (For articles that say "Billy is stupid" the former, but articles that are much more hateful I'd use bv.) It's not a big deal, but users who start off by creating attack pages usually end up vandalizing elsewhere, and it's good to have a steady record of warnings so admins can deal with the problem efficiently.

In unrelated news, I think that you and I may be long-lost twins, judging by your userpage. Except for the bit about medieval/renaissance stuff--I studied the Classics and know almost nothing about anything after the fall of Rome. But I'm always happy to see another user who likes Firefly, wine, books, and has identical feelings about grammar.  :) Cheers! -- Merope Talk 19:58, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

He's got a published biographical work about him. It is linked on the page. Is that not enough to be inclusionary criteria? DYCSoccer17 21:01, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

prod

edit

Two small points: the tag on LG Williams was a prod. The rule book says that prod's may be deleted. In this case the correct procedure was to move the article on to AfD. You did not sign this edit. But do please carry on with Thought Police patrolling. -- RHaworth 19:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:Deletion of two articles

edit

Well, after taking a look at WP:BIO, I am not totally sure whether or not these two authors are notable in their own right. One of the guidelines states "Published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work". I would appreciate it if you could tell me if there are more awards that both of the authors received or if their books were reviewed independently. At the moment, I am still undecided, and if you could help me out with the above, that would probably change my mind, and I would restore the articles. Also, it does appear that the person did tag the articles out of bad faith. Thanks. Nishkid64 17:16, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for removing The Finger from my talk page for me. Bear in mind that gay and lesbian authors are sometimes overlooked for recognition- it's one of the reasons that the Lambda awards exist. Shimko was also recognized by the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award, and was reviewed by Kirkus, Bookloons, and the School Library Journal. 1. D'Erasmo writes regularly for New York Times Book Review, New York Times Magazine, and Ploughshares 2 D'Erasmo has been reviewed by Publishers Weekly, New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker, Booklist, Kirkus, and Newsday3. -FisherQueen 17:26, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I restored both articles based on your arguments (although they haven't written many books yet). Nishkid64 17:31, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: the Susan Fennell page

edit

Thanks for you help in fixing the Susan Fennel edits. I was having a hard time trying to work with the fellow there who keeps making me edit away from the way I wanted. I was trying to be less in his face since he was getting a little pushy. But I like it better the way you put it.

Sorry to bother... but this "guy" just won't leave me alone. Can I trouble you to help get him off my back and look over my talk page about what he want's now? I am going to stop editing and go away for a bit because this is making me upset and I know I'm not supposed to get rude.

An Odd Question

edit

We apparently warned a user about creating a nonsense/attack page, on his talk page at the same time. Should I delete mine and just have yours up? Or would that technically be a violation? -WarthogDemon 19:50, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm confused

edit

I'm following the guidelines to discuss my contributions with you, yet, you are characterising this forum as vandalism? I will leave it to you, but I really did think Wikipedia was the encyclopedia by for and of the common user. My mistake, I will leave you to your editing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

On the Malagueñas

edit

Thanks for your feedback! Don't hesitate to tell me if there is any extra info you would like me to include or if there is anything I can do to wikify my article further. I'm adding new corrections as I go but I'm quite new to wikipedia, so any feedback is welcome. I'm going to add more articles on flamenco styles and artists. Added Manolo Caracol and Mayte Martín at the moment. GemmaMS 19:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello There! Although I'm sure you beleive at first glance the piece on Bruno Libido violates certain Wikipedia criteria, you may wish to concentrate on areas of interest you are familiar with. Bruno Libido is a ficticioua=s character who is only used to relay important and very useful information to people working the the field of Corrections. If you were a member of this particular group, you would understand the validity and importance of including this character in Wikipedia. In the interest of helping those in this dangerous and unpredictable field of employment, I would urge you to please restore this piece. Maybe you could concentrate on areas of interest that you are more familiar with and leave the Corrections items to those who work in that area. Thank you.
