Germany played friendlies against Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, and Switzerland in 1912. The match against Netherlands on 24 March ended as a 5–5 draw. Gottfried Fuchs scored a goal in the 13th minute for Germany and Julius Hirsch scored goals in the 14th, 31st, 75th and 79th minute for Germany. The goals for Netherlands were scored by Jan Thomée in the 5th and 53rd minutes, Mannes Francken in the 34th and 47th minutes and an own goal by Max Breunig in the 66th minute. The friendly against Hungary on 14 April ended as a 4–4 draw. Germany's goals were scored by Ernst Möller in the 15th minute, Eugen Kipp in teh 17th minute, Willi Worpitzky in the 25th minute and Adolf Jäger in the 44th minute. Hungary's goals were scored by Imre Schlosser in the 9th minute and Sándor Bodnár in the 59th, 65th and 75th minutes. The friendly against Switzerland took place on 5 May and finished as a 2–1 victory for Germany. Eugen Kipp scored in the 6th minute for Germany and Heinrich Mechling added another goal during the 9th minute. Switzerland's only goal of the match came as a result of a penalty kick during the 43rd minute. Germany suffered a 1–3 defeat in a friendly played on 6 October against Denmark. Denmark saw goals from Nils Middelboe in the 25th and 67th minutes and Alf Olsen in the 55th minute before Jäger scored a penalty kick for Germany in the 85th minute. A second friendly against Netherlands ended as a 2–3 loss. Mannes Francken opened the scoring with a goal for Netherlands in the 15th minute. Germany answered with a goal from Jäger in the 27th minute. Jur Haak regained the lead for Netherlands in the 56th minute. Jäger brought the Germans level in the 65th minute before Francken scored the game winning goal for Netherlands in the 74th minute.

Germany participated in the football competition at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. They faced Austria in a first round match on 29 June. At half-time, Germany was leading 1–0 due to a goal scored by Adolf Jäger in the 35th minute. Johann Studnicka scored in the 58th minute to tie the game. Leopold Neubauer scored in the 62nd minute to put Austria ahead. Robert Merz added to more goals for Austria in the 75th and 81st minutes before Robert Cimera scored in the 89th minute to bring Austria's total goals to five. This 1–5 defeat saw Germany eliminated from the tournament. After being eliminated from the main tournament, Germany participated in a consolation tournament. Their first round match in the consolation tournament was against Russia. Germany won this match played on 1 July by a score of 16–0. Gottfried Fuchs scored in the 2nd, 9th, 21st, 28th, 34th, 46th, 51st, 56th, 65th and 69th minutes. Fritz Förderer scored in the 6th, 27th, 53rd, and 66th minutes. Karl Burger scored in the 30th minute and Emil Oberle scored in the 58th minute. In the consolation semi-finals, Germany faced Hungary who defeated them 1–3. Imre Schlosser scored all of Hungary's goals; he did so in the 5th, 40th and 82nd minutes. Förderer scored Germany's only goal in the 56th minute.

The overall record for the year was two wins, two draws, and four losses.[5]

The 1928 Summer Olympics featured two matches from Germany: a first round win over Switzerland by a score of 4–0 and a quarter-finals loss to Uruguay by a score of 1–4. In the match against Uruguay, Germany was reduced to nine men after Hans Kalb was sent off in the 37th minute and Richard Hofmann, who scored Germany's only goal of the match in the 81st minute, was sent off in the 87th minute. Uruguay was reduced to ten men after José Nasazzi was sent off in the 87th minute.[18] Germany also played four friendlies this season with wins over Denmark, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as a loss to Sweden.[19]
