2023-24 UK/Canadian tour edit

A 2023 revival of 42nd Street directed by Jonathan Church and choreographed by Bill Deamer premiered with a May 17-June 2 engagement at Curve in Leicester, followed by a June 7-July 2 off-West End engagement at Sadler's Wells Theatre in Islington. The principal players for both these engagements were Nicole-Lily Blaisden as Peggy Sawyer, Kevin Brewis as Mac, Briana Craig as Lorraine Fleming,Les Dennis as Bert Barry, Josefina Gabrielle as Maggie Jones, Adam Garcia as Julian Marsh, Alyn Hawke as Andy Lee, Ruthie Henshall as Dorothy Brock, Aimee Hodnett as Phyllis Dale, Sam Lips as Billy Lawlor, Michael Matus as Bert Barry, Sarah Marie Maxwell as Anytime Annie, Anthony Ofoegbu as Abner Dillon, Michael Praed as Pat Denning, and Grant Walsh as Oscar.

The production played further 2023 engagements at twelve British venues, beginning with Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury (July 13-22) and concluding at Manchester Opera House (October 16-21), with a subsequent Grand Opera House, Belfast engagement (October 24-28). Four principal roles were recast for the production's UK engagements subsequent to Sadler's Wells, the roles of Dorothy Brock, Maggie Jones, and Julian Marsh being assumed by respectively Samantha Womack, Faye Tozer and Michael Praed, while Praed's original Pat Denning role was recast with Oliver Farnworth.[1] The production would then play a one-off North American engagement, its December 9 2023-January 21 2024 Princess of Wales Theatre (Toronto) engagement marking the return of Gabrielle, Garcia, and Henshall to reprise their earlier UK roles: the Princess of Wales engagement also co-starred Praed in his original UK role as Pat Denning and enlisted Olly Christopher to alternate the role of Billy Lawlor with Sam Lips, Christopher having been Lips' understudy for the UK engagements.

A March 16-24 2024 New Wimbledon Theatre engagement - affording the production an off-West End encore - featured all the principal players from the last twelve British and one Irish engagements of 2023, with Womack, Praed, Tozer and Farnworth returning to the roles of Dorothy Brock, Julian Marsh, Maggie Jones and Pat Denning: the same cast was featured at a subsequent 26-March 30 Edinburgh Playhouse engagement. One further engagement of this production of 42nd Street is currently scheduled, that being an April 29-May 4 Birmingham Hippodrome engagement.
