Early life

Born in Harlem, Carlos lived in Queens until he was 11 and from there moved to Jersey City, which he still calls home. The middle child of three boys, Carlos heard music in his home, (his father is a multi instrumentalist), and on the streets. He absorbed the songs of Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One, and Queens natives Run DMC and LL Cool J and by the time he turned Eleven Carlos had decided to take his love of hip hop and his burgeoning skills to another level.

In the year 2002, Nyne released his debut solo studio album, Afterhours. It included Carlos' 2003 summer hit "Speedbag", In the hood alongside with his cousin Joe Budden and the video game Def Jam Vendetta. The song "Focus" was also featured in the game with Joe Budden and Nyne was also a character. Its second single was "Afterlosing" featuring Joe Budden. The song "Afterhours" was featured on the soundtrack for the Video Game Def Jam Fight For NY, as well as Carlos Olivera he voices him in Resident Evil: 3 nemesis and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles.
