Eunice Atuejide (born Eunice Uche Julian Atuejide; 16 August 1979) is a Nigerian businesswoman, Nigerian Lawyer, and Politician . She is best known for founding the youth-led, technology-driven political party known as the National Interest Party (NIP) in Nigeria [1].


Early life and career

Eunice was born and raised in Lagos State Nigeria, although her family originates from Umuofiagu, Ukeke, Igbo Etiti Local Govt. Area, Enugu State. She is the second of five children. Eunice attended Onike Girls Primary School in Lagos, spent one year in the affiliated secondary school before transferring to Reagan Memorial Girls Secondary School also in Lagos. In Senior Secondary Class 1 Eunice sat external Senior School Certificate Examinations and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Examinations and passed, so rather than continue to SS2, she moved to University of Ibadan to study Agricultural Economics. In other to assist her family, Eunice worked from age 14 onwards hawking boiled eggs and pork, babysitting for neighbours, dancing competitively, acting on stage, singing with choral groups, modelling, working as a personal assistant on movie sets, and eventually as a continuity person. She worked in this manner throughout her secondary school education and the time she spent studying at the University of Ibadan[2]. Eunice actively participated in the game of Taekwondo throughout her secondary and tertiary education in Nigeria. She was among the team that represented the University of Ibadan in the game of taekwondo at NUGA games in Nigeria from 1996 to 1999. She achieved the black belt 1st Dan in 2005 with BUDO Taekwondo Club in Siegen Germany[3].


Education

Eunice dropped out of Agricultural Economics at the University of Ibadan even as she was predicted to complete the program with 2:1 honours. To prepare for the course in Television-Radio and Film at Université Marc Bloch in France, Eunice took the Diploma in French Language course at the Institut Internationale d’Etudes Française, in Université Marc Bloch, Strasbourg, France. She, however, met her first husband Frank Becker[4], and moved to Germany with him. In Germany, Eunice did the Diploma in German Language at the Sprahenschule Siegerland finishing the one year course with the grade Excellent. She took the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH) and enrolled at the University of Siegen, Germany where she studied Business Administration. She completed her studies in Siegen with the grade ‘Gut’ which is equivalent to a UK 2:1 honours Eunice took the Diploma in Film Making, and Acting at the New York Film Academy and Sally Johnson’s Studios respectively, both in New York City, USA. After 7 years making and promoting Nigerian movies, promoting Nigerian artistes in Europe and the USA, raising finance for infrastructure projects, and while raising her family, Eunice went back to school to study law. She completed the Graduate Diploma in Law with a Commendation; the Graduate LLB with a 2:1 Honours; the Legal Practice Course with a Distinction; and the LLM in Professional Legal Practice with a Distinction all at­­ BPP University, London, United Kingdom. Eunice then moved back to Nigeria where she completed the professional training programme required for enrolment as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria[5]. She was at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja campus and she finished the law school program with a 2:1 Honours. As a lawyer, Eunice focuses on Corporate and Property law. As a businesswoman, she is involved with IT Consultancy including website development and management for SMEs and charities. She also sources funding for businesses in Europe and infrastructure projects in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Eunice is well travelled and speaks more than six languages of which she is very fluent in Igbo, Yoruba, English, and German languages.

Political Career

Eunice’s interest in politics was piqued while she was at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja. Once the interest was born, Eunice pulled together her colleagues at the law school who shared similar political ideals with her, and they together set out on the journey to form a political party[6]. This resulted in the formation and due registration of the National Interest Party (NIP) – the world’s first ever online based political party[7].
