The Liverpool East Toxteth by-election, 1902 was a parliamentary by-election held in England on 6 November 1902 for the House of Commons constituency of Liverpool East Toxteth.

Vacancy

edit

The vacancy was caused by the resignation from the Commons of the Conservative Member of Parliament (MP), Augustus Frederick Warr. His wife's long-term illness and an increasing workload at Westminster were conflicting with work as a solicitor in Liverpool,[1] so he took the Chiltern Hundreds on 27 October 1910.[2][3]

Warr had held the seat since being elected unopposed at a by-election in 1895.[4][5]
