Road signs in Faroe Islands
editMost of the depictions on road signs, of people, animals and vehicle on roadsigns, are, realistic (as opposed to stylized) silhouettes.
Legal basis
editThe primary law is the Road Traffic Act of Faroe Islands. [fn 1] While the Road Traffic act has changed more frequently, the Executive Order on Road Signs has not changed since 1980, apart from 4 signs introduced in year 2006.
Denmark signed the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals on November 8, 1968 and ratified it on November 3, 1986. A note to the ratification states "until further notice the [Convention] shall not apply to the Faroe Islands and Greenland" .[1]

editThe signs have black numerals on a white background in a box with a solid black line. The sign can have a dashed or dotted line "Route number with dotted line, on a roundabout sign". Google Street View. October 2016. Retrieved November 20, 2023. This is not defined in the local code, on danish signs, a number in a box with a dashed line, tells how to reach that route.
