Rationale for this page: This page is used by User:Benlisquare to plan and schedule tasks to be completed on Wikipedia. As I am editing Wikipedia on a series of different PCs at different locations, it would be most beneficial to have this page online and easily accessible (as opposed to local and offline, which would be non-transferable, or hand-written) so that there can be a unification of information available for use from all locations at any given time, regardless of which computer used.

Testbed edit

  • East Asian languages#Syntax - Tôi đã ăn bữa ăn tối hôm nay. (I, have)(meal/eat)(dinner)(today) Find Chu nom. 񣕮吔𩛖𩛷𩛖啐񠊑񠅪 (unicode friendly variants 񣕮吔𩛖𩛷𩛖啐𣋚𠉞) - "however, this is not all the case" (referring to Topic-comment constructions) (personal pronouns: 񣄼񣑌񣕮 (semantics 臣,人,吾))

main edit

However, this is not especially the case for Vietnamese:

Vietnamese example:
Hán-Nôm: 񣕮 𩛖𩛷 𩛖啐 𣋚𠉞。
Quốc Ngữ: Tôi đã ăn bữa ăn tối hôm nay.
Gloss: I already eat-PERFECTIVE dinner today
Translation: I've already eaten today's dinner.

In this example, the topic does not form before the comment.

variant characters edit

  • Tôi: 񣄼 (臣+dot一人人十); 񣑌 (人+碎); 񣕮 (吾+碎) 臣/人/吾 is meaning, 碎 is sound (碎 pinyin sui; jyutping seoi3)
  • ăn: 𩛖 (食+安) 񣋁 (variant of 食+安; 食 has 一 instead of 点; \, instead of /` at bottom) 食 is meaning, 安 is sound (安 pinyin an; jyutping on1)
  • bữa: 𩛷 (食+否) 食 is meaning, 否 is sound (不 pinyin bu; 否 pinyin fou; jyut fau2, pei2)
  • tối: 啐
  • hôm: 𣋚 (日 on top of 歆); 񠊑 (日 to the left of 歆) 日 is meaning, 歆 is sound (歆 pinyin xin; jyutping yam1)
  • nay: 𠉞 (今 atop 尼); 񠅪 (尼 to the left, tail enclosing 今 inside); 񣐯 (尼 to the left of 今); 񣞦 (尼+今 on top of 日) 今 is meaning, 尼 is sound (尼 pinyin ni)

(add footnote? "Chu Nom was never regulated, many variants for the same words, blah blah")

  • Preferred variants: 񣕮吔𩛖𩛷𩛖啐񠊑񠅪
  • More likely to display correct correctly in Windows 7: 񣕮吔𩛖𩛷𩛖啐𣋚𠉞
