Biography

edit

Jennie Kim was born in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, South Korea on January 16, 1996, and is her family's only child.[1][2][3]

Kim is trilingual; she can speak Korean, English and Japanese fluently.[4]

Cruise described his father as "a merchant of chaos",[15] a "bully", and a "coward" who inflicted beatings upon him. Regarding his father, Cruise once said, "He was the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you. It was a great lesson in my life—how he'd lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang! For me, it was like, 'There's something wrong with this guy. Don't trust him. Be careful around him.'

She told Elle Australia that an uncertain future meant finding "a way to always feel safe and at home within myself. Because I can never rely on a physical place."

JN: I'm very afraid of strangers. It's really bad. And it visibly shows. I'm terrible at things like taking the initiative to be funny. Nevertheless, it's gotten much better. Before, interviews like this were my biggest fear in the world. When we debuted, I asked, "Can't I not do interviews?" (laughs) I could barely say 'Hello' during my audition. Trans: @black2dpink824

She told High Cut Korea that she was so afraid of strangers and terrible at taking the initiative to be funny at the time, that she could barely say "Hello" during her audition.
