Oh! is the debut extended play (EP) by South Korean singer Oh Ha-young. It was released on August 21, 2019, by Play M Entertainment. The EP contains five songs, including the title track "Don't Make Me Laugh".
Background and release
editSouth Korean singer Oh Ha-young first made her debut as a member of the girl group Apink in 2011 with "I Don't Know". Apink would go on to release the hit singles "No No No", "Mr. Chu", "Luv", and "I'm So Sick".[1] Oh initially prepared for a solo album in 2017 in the gaps between Apink's releases, but prioritized group activities.[2] Play M Entertainment announced on July 28, 2019, that Oh would release her debut extended play on August 21, making her the second Apink member to make her solo debut after Jung Eun-ji.[3] Oh! takes its name from Oh's surname, as well as the exclamation. The EP contains five songs, including the title track "Don't Make Me Laugh", which was contributed to by producers who previously worked on Dua Lipa's "New Rules" and "365" by Zedd and Katy Perry. It also features Babylon and Kanto.[4]
Oh held her debut showcase at Yes24 Live Hall on August 21, before the EP's release. The event was hosted by MC Dingdong.[2] She released the music video for "Don't Make Me Laugh" on the same day.[5]
Composition
editThe duet "How We Do" with Babylon is a future bass-based pop R&B song. Lyrically "Nobody" depicts the early stages of a relationship and falling in love with the universe, stars, and sky.[5]
