Demonisation of Soviet Union is a propaganda campaign of demonizing Soviet Union.

United States demonized Soviet Union and portrayed it as Antichrist as part of campaign of propaganda campaign of demonizing enemies of USA, both foreign and domestic.^[1]

American film industry demonized Soviet Union for decades. During the Second World War the Soviet Union became an ally of United States so Office of War Information pleaded to American film industry to improve image of Soviet Union.^[2] When Cold War began, anticommunist films and novels again demonized communist treat from Soviet Union.^[3] During the 1960's and new era of dialogue with East (like i.e. the Ostpolitik) it became more difficult to demonize Soviet Union.^[4]

Demonization of Soviet Union continued during the process of political reforms in USSR. Some authors criticized this attitude stating that it is result of myopic understanding of diplomacy and détente.^[5]
