The Collaboration of Chetniks with Italians

Most authors agree that since Summer 1941 the Italian army had the intention to support Serb and Jew victims of persecution by Ustaše who they perceived as "Croatian butchers".[1]

Most independent researchers agree that the intention of the Second Italian Army, commanded by General Vittorio Ambrosio, was to give support to all those who were victims of the Ustasha persecution, principally the Serbs and the Jews. Ambrosio and other Italian officers felt it was their duty to act as saviours of those running away from the "Croatian butchers".
