Albanian national identity

A group of people from Albania who settled Italy in the 15th century began with efforts to build the Albanian national identity since the beginning of 19th century.[1] Well into 20th century few people saw themselves first and foremost as Albanians while some scholars emphasize that the Albanian national feeling fully developed only after Second World War.[2]
