Anil V Kumar (born 4 June 1975) is a Television and film director and producer in India.[1]


A self-made man , who ran away from his home town Patna at the age of 15 , head to Mumbai with only one dream to earn lots of money to support his family back in patna.. Through various chapters of struggle in his life, he never gave up on his dream. In 1992, during the communal riots, he took shelter in Film city, which exposed him to the world of cinema. He saw how films were made. His fascination for films started and he aspired to be a Director. Seeing how a Director had the power of creating the written words into visual story left him impressed. He realised that Director was the most important part of this process.

His life changed when he joined raman kumar as his personal assistant. Slowly he climbed his way up in his company Tracinema, which was the leading Production house at that time. He started his career as an assistant director in the serials like Tara. Slowly with his hard work and determination, he became Chief Assistant Director of three of his serials - Shatranj, Umeed and V3plus. All these serials were on the top slots of Zee Tv at that time.

In 1998, he left Tracinema and joined Kushan Nandy as his Assistant Director and did few episodes of Thriller at 10 .His life changed for ever when during one of his shoots in Shirdi, Ekta Kapoor spotted him. She got in touch with him through Kushan Nandy and offered him to join her company as one of the directors.

Ekta Kapoor offered him Kaun, a DD show, which he directed as a series DIRECTOR. After few episodes, she offered him to launch Indian television soap opera KAHANI GHAR GHAR KII, which changed the face of television industry. After the success of Kahani Ghaar Ghar Kii, there was no looking back as ANIL V KUMARR became Ekta Kapoor’s blue eyed boy, who launched all her major soap opera,s. This was followed by Kkusum for Sony Tv , which was also hit.

He became Ekta’s Man in Crises, when she told him to take charge of her film, Kucch To Hai, which ran into trouble after creative differences between Anurag Basu and Ekta Kapoor.

Another feather in his cap was the serial Kahni Toh Hoga, which highlighted his range from a drama director to the king in romance and passion. After the success of Kahni toh hoga, there was no looking back. He went on to lauch all the major soap opera,s of Balaji Telefilms such as - [[Kitani Mohabbat Hai (Season 1) ndtv. Kis Desh Mean Hai Mera Dil (Star Tv), Kavyanjali (Star Tv), Kayamath( Star Tv), Karam Apna Apna (Star tv) Koi Dil Mein Hai(Sony Tv), Kitani Mast Hai Zindagi(MTV) and Kasam Se (Zee Tv)

After working for a decade he ventured out of Balaji telefilms and started working for other production houses and Directed Serials like Dekha Ek Khawab (Sony Tv), Sujata (Sony Tv) , Ramlal 1947,

He started his own production house "Flying Turtle Films" with his partners Shabbir Ahluwalia and Sakett Sawhnney in 2010. Under this banner , he directed Ganga Kii Dheej for Sahara Tv, which was critically acclaimed. He also Directed and produced Savitri (Life Ok) In 2013, Flying Turtle Films co-produced the movie Zanjeer starring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan.

In 2014,he was back with Balaji telefilms and gave hits like Meri Ashiqui Tumse hi, which was aired on Colors Tv, Itna Karo na Mujhse Pyar (Sony tv), Pyar Ko Ho Jane Do (Sony Tv) Kasam Tere Pyar Kii (Colors Tv) Naagin 2 (indian TV series) (Colors Tv) and launched Kundali Bhagya (Zee Tv).
