Lowila CD Oketayot
editLowila CD Oketayot is a Ugandan woman Representative[1] Member of Parliament [2]for Pader District since 2011 and also an Agriculturalist. She is the current chairperson Committee on Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. She is also a member of the Business Committee of Parliament.[3]
Background and education
editShe was born on 24th December 1969 in Northern Uganda, married and an NRM flag bearer. She attended her Primary School from Opette Primary School in Kitgum District. she later went for her O'Level in Sacred Heart S.S Gulu where she attained UCE certificate in 1986. Later, Lowila joined Kitgum High School where she obtained UACE certificate in 1990. She obtained a certificate in Agriculture from Bukalasa Agricultural College in 1994 for and a Diploma in Agriculture in 1996 from the same institute. In 2007, Lowila completed Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Makerere University and finally, in 2015, she finished her Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Makerere University.
Work Experience
editBetween 1996 and 2001, she was the Project Officer ACET Uganda. From 2001 to 2003, she worked as the Programme Officer at ACET Uganda. In 2008 to 2009, she worked as the Coordinator Agriculture at ZOA Uganda. she continued at ZOA Uganda from 2009 to 2010 as the Manager Agriculture. From 2011 to 2015, she served as the Member of Parliament Pader District in the Parliament of Uganda. She is serving as the Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries from 2016 to-date.
