The 2010 Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Profissional da Primeira Divisão - Série A1 is the 109th season of São Paulo's top-flight professional football league. The competition began January 16 and will end May 2.

Format
editFirst Phase
editThe "Paulistão" will be contested by 20 clubs in round one. All teams play each other once. The top four qualify for the finals and the last four will be demoted to Serie A2, 2011.
Tie-breaking Criteria
editIf two teams are tied in points, tie-breaking criteria will be applied in the following order:
- Total number of wins
- Goal Difference
- Goals Scored
- Head-to-head result
- Total number of red cards
- Total number of yellow cards
Playoffs
editSemi Final
editThe top four teams from the First Phase will advance to the Semi Final Round. The Semi Final Round will consist of a two-leg home/away playoff between the top team and the 4th team, and a two-leg home/away playoff between the 2nd ranked team and 3rd ranked team.
Final
editThe final will consist of a two-leg, home/away playoff between the winners of the Semi Final Round.
Tie-breaking Criteria
editThe tie breaking criteria for the Semifinal and Final rounds will be applied in the following order:
- Number of goals scored
- Number of away goals scored
- Result in the First Phase
