Sumit Singh is an Indian-American businessman. As of 2018 he is the director and chief executive officer of Chewy an online retailer of pet food and other pet-related products.

Early life and education

Singh was born in India and later moved to the United States[1] before attending The Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.[2] He also received an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.[3]

Career

Singh joined Dell as the North American General Manager, and then joined Amazon, where he served as the director of Amazon Fresh.[4] He joined Chewy in 2017, and served as the Chief Operating Officer before being named CEO in 2018.[5][6] He led Chewy through its IPO in 2019, growing the company to a market capitalization of $40 billion.[7] Under his leadership, Chewy reached net profitability in Q4 of 2020.[8]In April 2022, Singh joined the Booking Holdings Board of Directors. [9]

Awards and honors

In 2020, Singh was named to Comparably's list of Best CEOs for Diversity.[10] Later that year, in December, Bloomberg named Singh to the Bloomberg 50 list.[11] That same month, he was named to Comparably's Best CEOs list.[12]

In September 2021, the NRF Foundation named Singh to their list of People Shaping Retail's Future for 2022.[13]

Personal life

Singh lives in Florida with his family.[14]
