Encinas, mayors and delegados edit

Hi Abögarp, regarding your question about mayors and delegados:

  1. The Mexican Federal District is, legally speaking, a city (Mexico City, see Art. 44 of the Mexican Constitution and the Art. 2 of Mexico City's statute). Therefore, the jefe de gobierno del distrito federal = mayor, and as such is named by most English-speaking media (check out The Economist, the BBC, The L.A. Times, The Washington Post or The New York Times ). Clearly, a delegado can't be called a mayor.
  2. Chief administrator is a convention used here in Wikipedia when dealing with the delegados. I am not 100% happy with it but until we find something better, I think we should keep using it for the sake of coherence.

Cats edit

Hi Abögarp, I just read your comments. Obviously, I don't mind adding cats to those articles, but the way they were organized before was a bit confusing:

a) The cat Mexican state governors was under Mex. Exec. Branch and Mexican governors are not members of the Mexican Exec. branch (they don't take orders from the president), they are members of their own state exec. branch, which is independent. In addition, all Mexican governors are state governors so I decided to abrv. the cat name.

b) Your comments on George W. Bush, etc. are correct, but please notice that in Category:State governors of the U.S. (which is the equiv. of what we have) only the "Governors of XYZ" subcats are listed, not the "Governor of XYZ" articles. It makes sense because otherwise we would have 31 subcats and 31 articles about the same topic in the same cat.

c)Articles such as Governor of Texas are classified in cats such as Category:Governors of Texas, just like we have them now.

WikiProject Mexico edit

Hi, there. Just a quick note to announce the creation of Wikipedia:WikiProject Mexico. Please take a look, sign up or not as you feel fit, but please keep it on your watchlist. Regards, –Hajor 20:24, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

About the merge of FEMSA edit

You are right, and I somehow corrected the FEMSA article to show more distinction between its units. --Vizcarra 00:40, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

French Mexicans edit

RE Largest Cities edit

Indeed, but saying that Mexico City is in EdoMex is misleading. So we must either come up with a better way to clarify that or simply put the DF's population (ca. 8 million). -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 02:15, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

category:Mexican trade unions edit

That is true, Category:German society does have trade unions as a daughter category. I think somebody misunderstood the category for Category:German societies where it would apply. Trade unions are definitely societies but they are not much related to the society of the country. That's what I think... that somebody got the terms confused there. --Vizcarra 17:30, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I think the confusion goes here too Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#Category:Societies_by_nationality_to_Category:Society_by_nationality. People confuse societies with society. --Vizcarra 19:25, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Cfd edit

It is very sad that you have been an instrument to foster more insults by Ruiz here. --Vizcarra 20:41, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

You do not too look to hard. Notice his demeanor in his "Arsenio_Farell_Cubillas_and_those_silly_ethnic_cats" remark in Sagitario's talk page: It's ridiculous!!! Stop labelling people you guys barely know their full name. Ruiz. Not only the name calling but accusation of ignorance are not polite. The use of "!!!" (yelling in Internet usage). But it is your decision. --Vizcarra 23:15, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

CFD Vote Needed edit

These unneeded categories were created by Vizcarra, after related categories, which were also created by him, were already nominated fo deletion. Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#December_18 ---> Sagitario 20:49, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Sodi family edit

Laura's given name is Laura Guadelupe Sodi Miranda, Laura Zapata is her stage name. About de la Tijera, you are right, he is Thalía's uncle, the son of Demetrio Sodi Pallares, brother of Ernesto. --Vizcarra 00:21, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks edit

Thank you for your edit re: Henry Rathbone. I hate spelling and grammaticals errors and try to correct them when I can, myself. Will look forward to reading your articles concerning Mexico. It's a favorite subject of mine. Dr. Dan 18:11, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
