Hello, my name is Angelina. I'm a Rice University freshman and a member of the Brown residential college. I'm from New York, and I'm planning to major in Sociology and minor in Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities. My interests include reading, traveling and spending time with my family. I think I'll most likely choose to edit a WIkipedia article related to a gender, race or ethnicity issue, and am excited to be pursuing the PJHC minor!

“The Women’s Network” (Create New Article)

I’m interested in this topic because I was actually appointed to the position of co-Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion of Rice’s soon-to-be-launched chapter of the Women’s Network for this semester, and it’s such a great organization doing important work for women around the country, that I believe it needs its own article. Currently there is no article in existence on the topic, but there is an article on the “List of Women’s Organizations,” which I’m going to use as the parent article. That article is mid-importance, but well-developed considering the article topic. As much as I would love to write about this topic, the only concern I have is that all the sources I can find would be more related to the general topic of women’s networks as opposed to The Women’s Network.

I’m interested in this topic because, going off last semester’s theme of Black Lives Matter (BLM), George Floyd’s murder was a major spark for the outrage which erupted around the nation last year. The effects of his death are wide-ranging and still sending shocks around the country in terms of how people are responding to BLM, what policies are being enacted, and more.
