Any reason? edit

Beyond the "featured characters" list, which seems really out of place, does this template have any reason to exist? It's mostly redundant, and if we linked the cast table in the X-Men media template this one would be completely redundant. -Fandraltastic (talk) 07:28, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ideally, this should be similar to {{1989–1997 Batman film series}}, {{Christopher Nolan Batman film series}}, {{1978–1987 Superman film series}}, and {{Spider-Man films}}. Each of which overlaps an IoM 'box. - J Greb (talk) 11:59, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree in that this template has become rather redundant, and the "featured characters" section is rather messy and just bloated. It's also hard to make it similar to any of those other templates mentioned above, because these films don't really have any extra sections to be able to split them up into, since there's only one director that's done multiple films, only one soundtrack page on wiki, etc., which could make the template comprehensive enough to justify it standing on it's own. I've suggested that this get merged into the {{X-Men media}} template, and if you want to chime in on this suggestion on that template's talk page, it would be appreciated.68.33.142.75 (talk) 03:31, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Its useful for me. And if you check the X-Men template, it is bloated too and this one is much smaller. And if you merge this with X-Men media template, then you will just mess things more.--SuperHotWiki (talk) 01:15, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Oppose to merge.--SuperHotWiki (talk) 01:18, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Merging this into the media template won't mess up a thing in that one. The only things that would carry over into that template from this one would be a single link to the page featuring all the characters in the films instead of listing every single one in the template itself, and a link for the X3 soundtrack next to the title. Everything else is already on that template or the X-Men template, which I actually was the one who split that up into the media and comic templates back in the day, so I know how to do it. 68.33.142.75 (talk) 02:41, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just because you know how to do it, it doesn't mean it can be done right away. Templates are being separated so there won't be a single template trying to cater to all the sections related to the TV shows, videogames, books, films, etc...--SuperHotWiki (talk) 03:09, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand what you're trying to say. I never said anything about doing it right away, hence why I'm taking the time discuss it instead of just doing it without saying anything. I mentioned the fact that I've done it before because you acted like it would mess things up more, when I pointed out how much cleaner it would make things not having two templates for pretty much the same thing, and that I know how to do it so it won't be messy. And I don't see what you're trying to say about the separation thing either, because I've not seen other templates separated for every form of media around here, and it goes against guidelines like I mentioned in the other talk that not every section needs it's own thing. This template is a mess and has very little in it that gives cause to be able to stand on its own when the media template supports it just as much, if not more.68.33.142.75 (talk) 03:21, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
