Icon size

edit

I can't see how the large icon size (20px) would ever be useful if this is to be used in-line, so I had it default to a smaller size (12px) which was previously governed by an undocumented "small" parameter, and removed that parameter. I have also removed the template doc which was on this page since it has been tranferred to a transcluded doc. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 16:13, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Formatting?

edit

I'm surprised that this template doesn't seem to have any formatting parameters; in most cases, it would make sense if the title of the work in question were given in italics. Am I overlooking something obvious?--Lemuellio (talk) 21:27, 13 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Versions

edit

There is no format that allows for the linking of a page listing multiple editions / versions / translations of a particular work. It is assumed in this template that there is either a single copy of the work, or else a list of works on a topic. This severely limits the usefulness of the template.

To put is succinctly, the link below implies that Wikisource has works about Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

but the link goes to a list of several editions of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It is far less common for Wikisource to have a page with a collection of works about a work or topic than it is to have a page that is a copy of the work, or a list of editions / translations of that work.

Another example:

The link doesn't take the user to works about the play by Aristophanes, but to a list of English translations of that work. --EncycloPetey (talk) 05:35, 23 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Single but not full text

edit

What if there is only one version at Wikisource, but it is only part of the full text? For an example, see Orlando Furioso with only the first nine out of 46 Canti.

reference to translation space

edit

Due to the positioning at wikisource of translations at a separate namespace, "translation:", I think the template could reflect that in the screed "full text of…" to 'wikisource translation of …' or something that distinguishes it from verbatim text or pre 1926 adaptations and translations. ~ cygnis insignis 13:11, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Description of suggested change: Please add Category:Interwiki link templates - inline

~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:54, 31 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: {{edit template-protected}} is usually not required for edits to the documentation or categories of templates using a documentation subpage. Use the 'edit' link at the top of the green "Template documentation" box to edit the documentation subpage. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:23, 31 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
