Older events and design of this box edit

We are in 2017 and this box has events from 2014. It makes sense to provide access to older events, and it made sense to present these older events by default in the past to demonstrate a history of outreach. At this point though the history is wearing thin. I am not sure the this template needs to be redesigned this year, or even next, but now is the time to talk about when old events should retire and how this box should look in general.

Here are some options -

  1. Use the same box
    1. keep old events presented by default
    2. keep old events available, but hide them to require an extra click to view
    3. remove some or all old events to focus on this year's current events
  2. Use any other sort of box
    1. Copy another template?
    2. Design something new?

In New York City we use Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Header for our event box. The NYC has been through some design changes but it also is many years old and has never thoroughly been considered or discussed.

There is no standard for these boxes. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:35, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'd prefer to not remove links from the template, but I'm open to re-organizing and/or collapsing content. IMO, it'd be nice to collapse past years but keep links for the current year uncollapsed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:37, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Bluerasberry: I think we can mimic Template:ArtAndFeminism. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:38, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I changed the template to "Navbox with collapsible groups" and I think this looks rather nice. What do you think, Bluerasberry? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:40, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Another Believer: I would prefer that the 2017 event be visible. Right now, events for all years are collapsed. I am not sure how to do this. Thoughts? Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:08, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Bluerasberry: I agree, but I'm not sure how to make this possible. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:11, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I looked more and I do not think it is possible to do with these templates. I neither like nor dislike this, and I am willing to tolerate it until someone has a better idea. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:17, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Same. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:19, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
