It seems the USDA (a very relied-upon source) has utterly RECLASSIFIED allium cepa. Request wikipedia correlate such information: DIVISION, CLASS, SUBCLASS, ORDER, AND FAMILY have all changed.

The USDA page referred to above is hopelessly out of date. USDA GRIN is correct: search for "Allium cepa" here. No change is required. Peter coxhead (talk) 16:15, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

@Royal Society Biologist: These may be desired to be kept as different entries, rather than one versus the other. I've disabled the editprotected request pending further input.  Not done. The feedback at WT:TOL is "For angiosperm classification, we follow the APG IV system which has near universal consensus among botanists. APG doesn't recognize any ranked taxa above orders, solely clades." So, there is definitely not consensus for the proposed change. If you think that consensus should shift, please take it up at WT:TOL. The correct scientific classification order for ALL plants, animals, and minerals in the entire universe, is: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, then Species. In this listing you have the Class listed for all 3 of the Phylum, Class, and Order. This is a HUGE error, it's how we define our entire lives.
