Source and updates edit

I will not revert the latest changes, but we should not update this list too early. Meaning, we should wait for the CDC table to reflect the official H5N1 case numbers, and not just add them because of news reports. Comments? Awolf002 20:48, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Find an official source that updates its figures and stick with it, having this chart reflect that source. I recommend WHO. They are the ones in charge of tracking human deaths from H5N1. WAS 4.250 21:22, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

If we could all agree on that then we could make the current chart reflect this. WAS 4.250 21:27, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's what I think would work well. Awolf002 01:27, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree. The table is now updated with 2 Egyptian and 3 Azerbaijan cases which haven't been confirmed yet by WHO. I'm not sure if i should delete them.--Wedian 21:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
It seems that the WHO page does not always link the most recent table made. A table for March 13 that was not linked on that page. I don't know if this is different for anyone else, or if someone already found this, but we may have to start checking by manually changing the address in the bar if the page is not updated soon. -Peter 22:36, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

5 May data edit

The newest data can be found here. Awolf002 01:57, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes. WHO confirms. But the source page listed isn't yet updated. but that's not a big deal. but it impacts "verifyability". but it is verified. but. but. but. I give up. WAS 4.250 02:20, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm gonna revert myself and pretend this whole conversation never took place. AHHHHHHH WAS 4.250 02:20, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

NO problem... I found this page "by accident", because it is pretty confusing how the WHO updates their own web pages. No harm done! Remember: WP does not need to be fast, just as accurate as possible. Awolf002 02:25, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh dear. I updated before looking at the talk page. Looks to me like the update is legitimate, but... did I put my foot in it? Waitak 02:50, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cumulative edit

Is this an accurate description? I would have thought "Annual" would be better with the latest date put in the current years heading. Rich Farmbrough.

It is the name given to this data by the WHO, so why "invent" any new name? Awolf002 10:41, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Issues of verifyability and original research also arise with a name change. WAS 4.250 17:19, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Djibouti? edit

The May 12 figures included a fatal case in Djibouti. While it's not in the table, the table claims to be up to date as of May 12? Waitak 01:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

So fix it? WAS 4.250 03:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, there is that, isn't there... Waitak 03:23, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Readded Djibouti. There was an earlier reversion in the history, that was removed by Hexagon1, because the case wasn't fatal. Since this template is for cases, not just fatalities, the case should be there. Wish I'd noticed the history before manually re-adding the entry. :-/ Waitak 03:32, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

May 29 update edit

Note that the May 29 update doesn't yet appear in the update list, but that it does appear on the main H5N1 page. It also appears in the update RSS feed, which is where I spotted it. The lag for this update seemed to be particularly long.

While I've got your attention... I've appealed for some backup in maintaining the two charts (Template:H5N1 case graph and Template:H5N1 Human Mortality) that I've been maintaining. Only takes 15 minutes when there's an update, once you've learned how. Any takers? Waitak 06:00, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

June 16 update edit

You will find a slght difference between the current template and the June 16 WHO update. The main difference is that i added the Indonesian 50th case. However, if you count the number of 2006 cases in the current version of the WHO table, it will sum up to 82 instead of 83. Same applies to the 2006 deaths (52 instead of 53), the total number of cases (226 instead of 227) and the total number of deaths (128 instead of 129). By reviewing the previous WHO update present here, you will find that the 50th Indonesian case was added on the June 15th update. The case was also confirmed in the WHO situation in Indonesia update [1]. This case probably dropped from the June 16th update by mistake -during the addition of the new Chinese case - though it still appeared in the totals.--Wedian 14:28, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
