SVG

There is a new svg-image available: flag alias-royal = State Flag of the Kingdom of Greece.svg -- 22:44, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

It looks like this was fulfilled by User:Andrwsc (see diff), so I'm removing the {{editprotected}} template for now; feel free to replace it if something still needs to be changed. Cheers. – Luna Santin (talk) 12:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

There are two new and better versions for flag alias-royal and flag alias-royalnavy, namely Image:Hellenic Kingdom Flag 1935.svg and Image:Hellenic Naval Ensign 1935.svg respectively. Could someone please replace the current versions in the template with these two? Thanks, Cplakidas (talk) 11:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

1970-1975 version

Can somebody please include the   (Image:Flag of Greece (1970-1975).svg) as the flag variant? Unless that flag wasn't official or something.  ARTYOM  14:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

This particular flag is wrong, as it ought to be in a 7:12 ratio, like this. Please correct it. Also, it would make more sense to call the parameter "junta" instead of "1970". It is more descriptive and easier to remember. Regards, Cplakidas (talk) 19:33, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I've changed to the png image per your request, but it would be a good idea to change the svg image on Commons if you can. Also, the use of years for flag variant labels is a well-established convention by this WikiProject, so I've retained the 1970 label. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 22:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

1821 version

Can someone include the revolutionary flag used in 1821   in the flag variants? The articles on the Greek War of Independence use the 1828 variant of the flag, but that one was adopted after the war. Thanks :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.241.159.70 (talk) 12:21, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Old flag

Variants are normally accessible by date, so that one should also be available to use as {{flagicon|Greece|1828}}, if that is the correct date. Varlaam (talk) 11:01, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Incorrect flag icons

The current Greek flag icons are incorrect. They are pointing to the Finish flag. Could someone correct this? tellarin (talk) 03:54, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Huh? Where is that the case? Constantine 04:10, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

All icons marked flagicon|Greece, for example, show the Finish flag. This can be seen in the Template page itself. The Greece navy and country flags were only a blue cross on white for a few years. And, even so, it was centered. Not towards the left like the Finish one. The big images on the Flag of Greece page are correct. The icons link to this render: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5c/Flag_of_Greece.svg/22px-Flag_of_Greece.svg.png which is the Finish flag. tellarin (talk) 04:34, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

It is now corrected. How can one see the history of the thumbnails? The image for the full flag was always correct, only the icon sized thumbnail was wrong before the change. tellarin (talk) 04:54, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Please

Replace File:Flag of Greece (1828-1978).svg with File:Flag of Greece (1822-1978).svg, File:Hellenic Kingdom Flag 1935.svg with File:State flag of Greece (1863–1924;1935–73).svg, File:State Flag of the Kingdom of Greece (1833-1862).png with File:State_flag_of_Greece_(1833-1862).svg and File:Hellenic Naval Ensign 1935.svg with File:Naval Ensign of Kingdom of Greece.svg. Сербијана (talk) 10:05, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Could you spell out the reasoning behind these four changes? Has there been a discussion about them? -- John of Reading (talk) 15:42, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
John, I actually started processing this request the other day and got sidetracked. File:Flag of Greece (1828-1978).svg redirects to File:Flag of Greece (1822-1978).svg on commons anyways, File:Hellenic Kingdom Flag 1935.svg is a smaller dimension version of File:State flag of Greece (1863–1924;1935–73).svg but otherwise is the same (other than the requested new one seems to have a more accurate filename). I hadn't gotten a chance to look over the other two yet, but I will probably do that tomorrow if this request isn't handled tonight. :) Happy editing! Technical 13 (talk) 00:39, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
Done. All of the new images seem equivalent or better than the old ones. LittleMountain5 01:44, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Template-protected edit request on 4 December 2017

Would it be possible to remove the "otto" flag as this flag was not a national flag but a royal standard. Also the flag (with crown) under the alias "royal" was not a royal flag but a "state flag" (i.e. for government use) so the alias label should be changed to "state" or "state-old". Re5x (talk) 11:47, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Not done: Re5x, Both requests are breaking changes and neither request has any evidence to show that the flag variants in question are unused. Cabayi (talk) 09:03, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
They are factually incorrect, please read up on Flag of Greece, it is wrong to present what is a government flag as a royal flag when they are blatantly not. Perhaps the image displayed could be temporarily changed to File:Flag of Greece (1822-1978).svg (actual civilian flag used, no crown) and placed into a tracking category while manually switching the code on articles? And the Kingdom of Greece has long ceased to exist... --Re5x (talk) 09:10, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
I'm not here to establish what is factually correct or incorrect about the Greek flag. My role is focussed entirely on the template, to ensure it isn't broken or edited on a whim. A tracking category isn't a breaking change, but it's also pretty pointless unless you have already set up the flag aliases you want to use in place of the one you don't like.
Discuss its correctness, impartially inviting input from the folks at WT:WikiProject Greece & WT:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology. Establish a plan and WP:Consensus and come back with a request (or set of requests) that won't break the template or the articles which transclude it. Cabayi (talk) 11:30, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Just saw this, so sorry if I dig it up after so much time. @Cabayi: Re5x is right on the fact that the supposed flag under Otto is his personal, naval standard, rather than the national or state flag. If you want to correct this without breaking the template, a simple way would be simply to replace "State flag of Greece (1833-1862).svg" (which now points to the correct name, Naval Royal Standard of Greece (1833-1858).svg) with "Flag of Greece (1822-1978).svg", which was actually the flag during Otto's reign as well. I hope this is a satisfactory solution. Constantine 20:24, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

Okay   Done. If these uses of this variant can be updated, then it can be removed from this template — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 06:44, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
