This phrase "was said" is unattributed, and it is similraly unattributed in later DM report. Where does this figure come from? Is it a police estimate, or a journalist's guess?
Per WP:EXCEPTIONAL "any exceptional claim requires multiple high-quality sources". A pair of weaselly-worded DM articles doesn't meet that test. - Interesting:

- @BrownHairedGirl: I believe I have rectified this issues with the article. The 3,500 figure, while covered by many varying sources, could not be found. I found a similar claim which will be listed below. Here are a couple of new hooks: Jolly Ω Janner 23:57, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
