René Morax edit

  • ... that René Morax wrote the play Le Roi David, for which Honegger composed dramatic music for soloists, choir and orchestra? Source: he was a red link for that fact

Created by LouisAlain (talk). Nominated by Gerda Arendt (talk) at 22:12, 6 July 2017 (UTC).

  • New enough, long enough, nominated within the requisite timeframe. Free of copyvios. Added a comma to the hook, which seems okay otherwise. QPQ complete. BUT the referencing here is totally inadequate, sorry Gerda; the refs are mostly about the plays Morax has authored, not about him; and they are none too reliable besides. Don't say sorry to me, I only nominated. What can we do? Search? It's from the French, DYK? I don't speak French. LouisAlain, any help here? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:23, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Actually I scratched the French sources to the bottom and eventually found a radio interview dated 1958 and a 1962 video which I added to the external links and refs. I shall translate Alexandre Dénéréaz which is currently a red link in the article. LouisAlain (talkcontribs)
@LouisAlain: Thanks for adding sources. If we're to put this on the main page, though, we need inline citations. If you can provide these, fantastic; otherwise, I'm not certain there's much point in keeping this nom open: Gerda does not speak French, and neither do I. Vanamonde (talk) 14:08, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

I've added 3 new external links and references and will translate Jean Morax sofort. Hope it will help. LouisAlain (talk) 14:50, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

Regretfully marking for closure, because this person seems interesting. The only source, at this point, that is biographical in nature is another wiki, hence unreliable. Sorry. Vanamonde (talk) 05:15, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
I will look once more, but please give me a date. This is a historic figure, there must be something. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:51, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Vanamonde Please look again. I made some of the external links to references. Please note that the biographical information of the French WP (and others) is based on books, - just that I can't access them. Nothing looks controversial to me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:28, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Much much better, certainly, thanks for putting in all that work. Cited, neutral enough, etc. The article as of now is almost entirely about his theater career, but I don't think I can or should hold up DYK over that. I think we have too many sources at the moment; is there a reason for a "sources" and a "bibliography"? Again, not critical, though. In the main I want to see a different hook, or at least different phrasing; right now, for a layperson such as myself the hook says "he wrote a play for which somebody else wrote the music." Vanamonde (talk) 16:45, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
If the piece was The Magic Flute, would you say the same? - It's his lasting success, and the only work with an article, and probably the only work still performed a lot. - The reason for sources and bibliography is the translation: bibliography has books devoted entirely to him, Sources other related stuff.
Thêatre du Jorat
Thêatre du Jorat
ALT1: ... that René Morax founded the Thêatre du Jorat (pictured), where his play Le Roi David premiered with dramatic music by Arthur Honegger? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:43, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Not ideal, but better, certainly. AGF on sources in languages I do not understand. We don't need a "sources" and a "bibliography", they can be merged, but that is not something to hold this up over. Image looks okay. Vanamonde (talk) 13:56, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
  • I have added Gerda to the credits as she has dome a lot of work on this. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:23, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
