New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame edit

Created/expanded by 72.74.206.20 (talk). Nominated by 72.74.206.20 (talk) at 06:23, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Date and length are fine. However the hooks are a bit iffy. The original and Nos. 1 and 4, I can't quite be sure of reliablity. No. 2 is incorrect according to what the article says. No. 3 is too long. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 15:09, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

A few points:

  1. All the hooks are either supported by newspapers or wrestling websites used in GA and FA articles (e.g. Wrestling Observer, OWW.com, 1wrestling.com, etc.) Is there a particular one you object to?
  2. Angelo Savoldi is currently 98 years old (as of 2012). He was 95 at the time of his 2010 induction (and still the oldest living wrestler). And I don't think it can can really be disputed that Savoldi family weren't inducted at the event. Same for Howard Finkel.
  3. If hook #3 is too long can't someone shorten it?

  • Nothing appears to have been done that I can see to alleviate the sourcing issue. The claims do not have sources next to them that back them up. I'm inclined to decline but I'll ask for a second opinion. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 06:19, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Regretfully agree with the assessment. No significant edits have been made to the article since nomination, a great many of the sources for events that have occurred merely state that the events will be happening on such and such a date (or is scheduled to happen) rather than confirmation that they did happen, which violates WP:CRYSTAL. As The C of E points out, the various hook facts are not confirmed by inline sources next to the the fact in question, and in the cases I checked—from the "Starting in 2009" paragraph text—not even by the only footnotes to be found, which were at the end of the section. • To prevent this from being closed yet again before its time: there was an appeal of an earlier closure in WT:DYK, and this nomination was brought back. There is currently a call out in the hopes that a reviewer can be found who knows which wrestling sources are reliable. In the meantime, the author is urged to address the points in my previous post, which will be true regardless of how good the sources actually are. There has still not been a significant edit to address them, and work needs to be done very soon. I was, frankly, disappointed that the reaction to the point that ALT3 was too long was "can't someone shorten it", rather than the author making a new proposal of a shorter version. • Despite the special request in WT:DYK to bring this nomination back, resulting in it being reinstated on May 23, there has been no action of any kind by the creator: not on the issues mentioned above nor edits of any kind to the article, nor even a comment here on why no work is being done. It's been 10 days. Even if the sources themselves turn out to be sufficiently reliable, their use frequently is not as noted above, and inline sources still do not follow hook facts. In my opinion, there is no reason to wait any longer; we have bent over backward here to accommodate this nomination, and it is time to close it. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:09, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
