M Train (book) edit

  • ALT1 ... that Patti Smith's title for her second memoir, M Train, refers to a "mind train" or the train of thought that can lead anywhere? (Source: "M Train: 'Mind train, a train of thought that can lead anywhere,'" Vanity Fair)
  • ALT2 ... that musician Patti Smith took 16 years off performing and devoted herself to writing, a subject of her memoir M Train? (Source: "I've always considered myself a writer, and M Train is really about my writer's life" "You didn't perform for years after you moved to Detroit." "Sixteen years...That's when I learned to be a writer. Just Kids didn't come out of flotsam and jetsam. It came from years of developing a discipline."Harper's Bazaar)

  • Comment: I thought it might make a nice quirky hook, getting a Grammy nom for a book.

  • Date, size, neutrality, refs, hook, copyvio spotcheck, QPQ review, all GTG. The only comment other than that is that the hook is pretty plain and boring. Isn't there anything else to be said here? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:17, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the review. I have a few more reviews to read; let me see what I can find as far as ALT hooks. Innisfree987 (talk) 00:40, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I was about to promote this, but no alt hooks were ever presented. SL93 (talk) 00:51, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Closing as failed. No alts were ever given. SL93 (talk) 04:31, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Just seeing this; didn't get your previous, would've been great to have a ping. Sorry I didn't get to it soon. Innisfree987 (talk) 04:38, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
I didn't think about it since I assumed you had this on your watchlist. SL93 (talk) 04:39, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Understood--I do, which is how I saw this one. I just had things come up that kept me mainly off-wiki for several weeks, just getting back to catching up on things now. Innisfree987 (talk) 04:42, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
I apologize for not pinging you. SL93 (talk) 04:47, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, much appreciated. What do you want to do about the entry? Understand if it's your decision to close it. It would take me at min a couple more days to read the additional sources and suggest something; I'm willing but up to you. (I actually didn't think it was such a bad idea for a hook in the first place, a book winning a Grammy, but of course that's the reviewer's call.) Innisfree987 (talk) 04:53, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
I can wait longer. I would like to see what the original reviewer thinks since he brought up the hook not being interesting, but I can't seem to remember how to ping an editor. SL93 (talk) 04:57, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your flexibility—I’ll ping you both in a couple days with new suggestions. (As for my part I can’t remember how to show you a template without actually using it so here, I’ll just ping myself for now—Innisfree987—and then if you go in to edit the page you’ll see the syntax!) • Leaving this icon to prevent the nomination from being closed, pending additional hook suggestions from the nominator. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:49, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
  • It has been 10 days since the last comment (and indeed edit) by the nominator. @Innisfree987: Please propose new hooks by Saturday, otherwise this will be marked for closure then. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:13, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
  • I will mark ALT1 as the most interesting of the hooks. Rest of the review is per Piotrus. SL93 (talk) 01:54, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Ok. I hadn't pinged all because I was going to write a couple more to choose from but if that works for you, great. Innisfree987 (talk) 02:11, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
