Lena Machado edit

  • ... that "Hawaii's Songbird" Lena Machado had a "ha'i" in her voice? Source: "Lena Macado ... the bulk of her recordings ... were particularly suited to showcasing her skill in the ha‘i yodeling technique." (1)
    • ALT1:... that "Hawaii's Songbird" Lena Machado sang for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and composed the Roosevelt Hula for him? Source: "Roosevelt Hula composed for the president ... she appeared before Franklin Delano Roosevelt at Governor Joseph B. Poindexter's reception ... " (2)

  • Article is on an intriguing subject, the hooks both check out, sourcing is excellent, the expansion is incredible and well within the required time, and spot checks do not indicate any copy-plag issues. Everything here is good to go. One question, are there any photos available of her for the article? Also, I would suggest a tweak to the second hook: instead of "... that "Hawaii's Songbird" Lena Machado sang...", perhaps use "... that "Hawaii's Songbird" sang..." instead. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:51, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank your for this review. There were plenty of images of her in the newspapers, from circa 1930 until she died in 1974. But given the dates, probably all of them are probably still copyright protected. As for the second hook suggestion, I get what you're saying, but it's a bit of an affront to her legacy to put her on the main page and hide her name. — Maile (talk) 23:12, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Mm, it's a fair point on the hook; it makes it more "hook-y" but I totally get what you mean. As for the photo, I believe that a single photo under Fair Use of a deceased person (since, obviously, creating a new free one is kinda difficult) is acceptable, but certainly that's an Optional Extra. Keep up the good work! - The Bushranger One ping only 23:14, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
