Jane Severance

  • ... that all three of Jane Severance's books for young readers include lesbian characters, including her first book, the first picture book to include lesbian characters? Source: First book: Davis 2016: "In 1979, Severance wrote and published the first children's picture storybook featuring lesbian characters. Titled When Megan Went Away..." Second book: Miller 2022: "...explored in her [Severance's] second children's picture book about lesbian family life, Lots of Mommies (1983)". Third book: Crisp 2010: "The point of the mother in Ghost Pains was what her daughters were going through because of her alcoholism. Her being a lesbian was just incidental."

Converted from a redirect by Bobamnertiopsis (talk). Self-nominated at 18:21, 3 March 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Jane Severance; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.

  • Article started off in mainspace as a redirect and then an article was worked on in userspace. Hook fact is interesting enough and supported by an offline inline citation. QPQ is done. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
