Ghazi Abdul Rahman Al Gosaibi

edit
  • ... that Saudi government banned most of Ghazi Al Gosaibi's books in the 2000s, then Saudi Minister of Labor, and lifted the ban just nearly two weeks before his death on 15 August 2010?

ALT 1 ... that Saudi government banned some of Ghazi Al Gosaibi's books, then Saudi Minister, and lifted the ban two weeks before his death on 15 August 2010?

  • Length, date and sourcing check out. However, the hook slightly contradicts what the article says by stating that "most" of his books were banned, while what's written in the article is that "some" of his books were banned. Also, nominator needs to complete QPQ review. --Al Ameer son (talk) 05:09, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
QPQ done, reviewed Konrad Hubert.Egeymi (talk) 08:50, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT hook is good to go. Congrats --Al Ameer son (talk) 17:41, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Danke and Şukran. Thanks,Egeymi (talk) 18:12, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
  • The hook makes more definitive claims than the article itself. The article merely says: "Some of his books, including An Apartment Called Freedom, were banned for a long time in Saudi Arabia." The hook says it happened in the 2000s, and it also it says it was when he was Labor minister—a post he was appointed to in 2004, according to another section in the article. The article needs to have at least as much detail on the subject as the hook, and must have inline source citations after each relevant sentence. (Also, please delete "just nearly" from the hooks; "two weeks before his death" is what the article says, and if it's correct, it's good enough. If it was actually 12 or 13 days, though, there's no reason not to say that instead.) BlueMoonset (talk) 21:35, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
  • You are right, the hook should not give any period for the ban. Because there is no report on this period, so it is impossible to insert this info to the article. I deleted "just nearly" and used what the article says, as you suggested. Instead of saying M of Labour, I used much comprehensive term Saudi Minister, since he was M of Water before his post of M of Labor and the beginning date of ban is unclear. These modifications are included in ALT 1. Thanks for your review.Egeymi (talk) 06:10, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Since you have no direct information on when the ban began, you unfortunately cannot even use "Saudi Minister" as you have in ALT 1: the ban could have started while he was still an ambassador in 2002 or earlier. Maybe something along these lines would work (based in part on the "banned for a long time" statement, and that he was clearly Minister of Labor when the ban was lifted):
  • Thanks for the suggested ALT 2.Egeymi (talk) 16:17, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Need a new reviewer to check ALT2. Have struck the earlier hooks for the issues noted. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:22, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Alt 2 hook checks out, referenced online and in English, at the end of the sentence. Maile66 (talk) 21:04, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I am concerned that some of the phrasing in this article may be too close to that of its sources. Compare for example "his works were often critical of ruling regimes in the region and included a satirical representation of social and political mores" vs "they frequently voiced criticism of ruling regimes in the region and often presented a satirical depiction of social and political mores". I also found problems with these two sources; others may need to be checked. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:56, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
