The article is good, but the hook is pretty boring. How about you change it to ALT1, which is more interesting:

ALT1 ... that the Old West figurine sculptor Earl Heikka had his first studio on Gary Cooper's ranch?

A lot? And, because we're not stigmatising suicide, it might as well just say "this person is dead". Not interesting.
