Hook eligibility:

QPQ: Done.

Overall: Needs a better hook --evrik (talk) 17:57, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

  • I added another, if that helps—although I'm concerned about the repeated use of LinkedIn pulse? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 19:41, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
  • @Lullabying: are there any sources that describe how decome were eclipsed by emojis in texting? That would be the root of a good hook. --evrik (talk) 21:43, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
ALT3: ... that deco mail was the first messaging to use emojis, but it was eclipsed with the advent of social media and messaging apps?
  • Review of new hook needed. --evrik (talk) 01:44, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
  • I think ALT3 is fine but I would have to look for evidence on whether that is true. lullabying (talk) 03:12, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
  • @Lullabying: If you can't substantiate Alt3 with a source, do you have I can approve? --evrik (talk) 20:02, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Can we go with the fact that NTT Docomo was the first Japanese cell phone service to use that feature? i.e.
ALT4: ... that NTT Docomo was the first cell phone service to utilize deco mail? "NTT DOCOMO". 2011-07-22.

  • I'll approve Alt4. Alt3 wold be okay if it was cited. --evrik (talk) 14:16, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
  • The original ALT I listed links the source. lullabying (talk) 19:51, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
  • @Lullabying and Evrik: I was going to promote this, but I have some concerns with the proposed hooks. For ALT 3, the hook implies that Decome's popularity declined when social media and messaging apps became popular, but the article says, "Decome was popular in 2012, when social media and messaging apps became popular...". This seems contradictory, and the source is paywalled so I cannot check it. Is there alternative wording that can be used? For ALT4, I could not verify the information in the source used in the article; while the source says that decome was created by NTT Docomo, it doesn't say that they were the first to use it. What sentence(s) from the source verify ALT4's information? Z1720 (talk) 14:21, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
  • I clarified the sentence in the article for ALT3. lullabying (talk) 21:22, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
  • I'll approve Alt4. --evrik (talk) 03:46, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Z1720 Any new thoughts on ALT4? SL93 (talk) 23:50, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
  • I looked at the source used to verify this information in the article again ([1], the same source provided above) and I still cannot verify that Ntt Docomo was the first cell phone service to use deco mail. Can Lullabying or evrik provide the quote from a source that verifies this information? Thanks. (I haven't looked at the other ALTs because they were not approved by evrik, so they might be inclined to approve other ones.) Z1720 (talk) 00:01, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
  • I added the ref to the article, and I'll approve it Z1720 (talk) 00:22, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
  • evrik added an image to this nom. I assessed it and approve it for use. Z1720 (talk) 21:42, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
