Charles Scott Napier

  • ... that Charles Scott Napier graduated from the Woolwich and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1916, but could not be sent overseas until he turned nineteen in 1918? Source: "He received his commission as Second Lieutenant in the Royal Engineerson 26th May, 1916 (aged only 17 years and 3 months) and after a short courseat the S.M.E. was attached to Eastern Command, being under the minimumage permitted to proceed on overseas service.On 26th November, 1917, he was promoted to Lieutenant, and on attaining the age of 19 in February of the following year was posted to India," ([1], p. 337)
