Birgit Remmert
edit... that Birgit Remmert appeared in title roles of Greek tragedy turned into opera, Schoeck's Penthesilea, and Iokaste, written for her?Source: several
- Reviewed: Shalimar Sharbatly
- Comment: in Iokaste, it's also the only role, but that would probably too long to mention? It tells the story of Oedipus from her point of view, - in March if possible

- New, in time, long enough, inline hook citations check out, no apparent copyvios, QPQ done. I've reworded the hook slightly. Gerda Arendt, the awards section should be cited. Also, that Penthesilea is a Greek tragedy is mentioned in neither the Remmert nor the Penthesilea article. --Usernameunique (talk) 07:11, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review. Please don't change a hook, unless it's minor. This - sorry - is nonsense:
- ALT1:
... that Birgit Remmert appeared in title roles of Schoeck's Greek tragedy turned into opera Penthesilea, and Iokaste, written for her? - There's no Schoeck's Greek tragedy, but two operatic roles derived from Greek
tragedymythology, Penthesilea and Iphigenia, by different composers, one little known, the other one unknown. Do we have to explain in an actor's article playing Julia that Romeo and Julia are lovers? How is this? - ALT2: ... that Birgit Remmert appeared in operatic title roles from Greek mythology, Schoeck's Penthesilea, and Iokaste, which Stefan Heucke composed for her?
- I didn't know that Penthesilea wasn't in an ancient play, - always learning. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:03, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- This nomination has been sitting for over a month with no further review; time for a new reviewer to check ALT2. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:06, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- ALT2 is almost acceptable but it needs rephrasing to make it clear that it is Iokaste which was written for her. The hook seems a bit convoluted or busy considering the mention of Penthesilea (thus making it appear that both Penthesilea and Iokaste were written for her rather than just Iokaste); perhaps the flow of the hook could be improved here? - I give up (trying to connect her to something known also).
- ALT3: ... that an opera was composed for mezzo-soprano Birgit Remmert, Iokaste by Stefan Heucke, in which the mother and wife of Oedipus is the only role? - Hoping that at least the composer will get an article. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:28, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Almost there, except the hook fact about Jocasta isn't in Remmert's article. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:57, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- We will have (a few) readers who don't know without being told who Iocaste is, - it's only an explanation for them, and has nothing to do with the singer. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:00, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: I meant that Iokaste having only one role is not in Remmert's article (sorry if I wasn't that clear). Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:13, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I added the review now that I read but failed to add, - it's so long ago ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:20, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- I suppose ALT3 should now be good to go, although @Gerda Arendt:, I suggest you change "the only character" to "the play's only character", then replace the comma with a colon to make the sentence flow better from the discussion about the play being written for her. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:55, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- Which play? An opera is not a play, and "role" is the common word. It's one role, just that two people represent i, but that may be too complicated for a hook, no? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:17, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
