Archean life in the Barberton Greenstone Belt
edit- ... that the Barberton Greenstone Belt in South Africa contains fossil bacteria 3.5 billion years old?

- ALT1 ... that the Barberton Greenstone Belt contains fossil bacteria 3.5 billion years old?
- Meets criteria, and I've found an online summary of the claim reference here. I've changed the hook formatting for ALT1 as it wasn't right originally. Wikiwayman (talk) 12:50, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm having second thoughts about the hook (original and ALT1), as it seems to lead the reader to Barberton Greenstone Belt rather than the archaea in it. How about:
- ALT2 ... that Archean life in the Barberton Greenstone Belt has been dated to 3.5 billion years ago? Wikiwayman (talk) 13:01, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- ALT2 sounds good to me, I am still learning how to do this DYK! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:10, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- OK for ALT1 or ALT2. Wikiwayman (talk) 12:08, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Page name is potentially ambiguous when talking about ancient bacteria. Archean (or Archaean) is occasionally used as an adjective describing species or genes belonging to members of the Archea, which are a form of bacteria - maybe a hatnote indicating that this refers to the age of the life and not the phylogeny of the life? Agricolae (talk) 18:18, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hat note added. Perhaps the article could be renamed to Life in the Barberton Greenstone Belt. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:36, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Or maybe Life in the Archean Barberton Greenstone Belt - that preserves the temporal indicator without the ambiguous phylogeny. Agricolae (talk) 06:32, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
