I would appreciate any info on the High School of Ioannina prior to 1828. It seems like the school replaced an existing one. --_Sulmues^{Let's talk} 16:55, 20 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

As far I know Zosimaia was founded at 1828 and was a new school. Of course there were plenty of famous schools in Ioannina before 1828, see Ioannina (Giounmios, Maroutsios, Epifaniou, Kaplanios etc.). As far I know the only 'school transformation' was of Giounmios that became Kaplaneios.Alexikoua (talk) 21:16, 20 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

If that's the truth, several sources that say that Vangjel Meksi went to Zosimaia are incorrect. Meksi must have gone there in the 1780s. My hunch is that there was something there before Zosimaia, or the same school was called differently. My bad actually: this source, page 112 says that Vangjel Meksi had pursued secondary studies in Janina, and it doesn't mention Zosimaia. Reading this part of the Ioannina article, it seems like he attended the Maroutseios, which was the secondary school of the city when he must have attended, but it would be by deduction if I mentioned it. Originally this school was founded by a merchant from Jannina named Ghioni. Georgios Tzavelas? edit

Surely the Giorgios Tzavelas mentioned in the Notable alumni section and the one linked to in that same section can't be the same person? The Giorgios Tzavelas who the section is probably referring to attended in the 19th century (according to the article), while the Giorgios Tzavellas who is linked to is a Greek football player who is very much still alive.
