Basketball is the least of the reason why the school has been recognized. No offense to the baskteball team, but the school is not neccessarily a basketball powerhouse. It is a good school that provides a quality education at an affordable price. That is what the school is known for.
What about wrestling?
Thanks for the wrestling addition. Accordingly, I dropped mine from this page.[Special:Contributions/Longtimeyorkdad|contribs]]) 15:21, 6 December 2006 (UTC).
Fair use rationale for Image:Ycp.jpg
Image:Ycp.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Fraternity Section - NPOV
The line "these organizations serve the community and the college; provide leadership and fellowship; and many other positive aspects" seems POV to me. I'm changing it to try to eliminate the pro-fraternity/sorority slant; feel free to put it back in if we can find a source and then quote them (like the dean or somebody praising the fraternities, something like that). dcd139 (talk) 21:07, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
4 class boast?
"As a cost-saving measure, York College requires its full-time professors to teach four courses per semester, compared to the norm of two or three at most U.S. colleges and universities." Seriously? Who thinks this is 1) accurate and 2) a good idea to include here? You will find MANY colleges and universities that require 4-class load. 12 hours per semester with a standard 3-hour class. That's practically every average school in the country. How is this unique? Sure, some better schools with better professors are able to reduce this load for a variety of reasons, and in many cases a school has 4-hour classes and thus the 12 hours are reached with 3 classes. And many RESEARCH institutions have a reduced teaching load because their faculty are supposed to be doing heavy research. But on average, it is very normal for professors to teach 4 classes per semester. And "as a cost-saving measure"? In what universe do you want to project the image that you don't care about your professors? Ah, we'd rather pay less to save money. Sure, quality suffers, but look at all the money we save! So: I call this sentence bogus as a matter of fact. And, I call this sentence whacky as a matter of PR.

Edit warring to add information about "The Bachelorette"
Rdonald89 has begun an edit war to add this sentence to the history section of this article:
- On December 22, 2020 notable alumni Zac Clark put the college on the map winning the heart of Tayshia Adams and millions on Season 16 of ABCs The Bachelorette[1]
Setting aside the numerous formatting problems, this sentence has nothing to do with the subject of this article and its history. It's also clearly promotional and POV. ElKevbo (talk) 04:17, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
References

This is in no way promotional. I actually went to York. Did you? Many fellow alum are excited about this news and it deserves a spot on the page. I have revised formatting issues and provided current citations. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it not worthy of the page. If there is a better section to add it to please let me know and I will make revisions. Otherwise piss off dude. This is how you get your kicks? Acting like some hot shot on Wiki, ha!
