How's Gifford pronounced? edit

Does anybody who lives there, or in the neighbourhood, know whether Gifford is pronounced (locally) with a hard (velar) g-, i. e. as in get, or with a soft (palatal) one, i. e. as in gentle?

Thank you very much.

Gifford is pronounced with a hard 'G'. This is in common with most British place-names where there is an 'I' or 'E' after the initial 'G' or 'C', as opposed to "latinate" pronunciation. Brendandh 19:03, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have been to Goblin Ha' twice and it is stranger in real life than the descriptions. Its concealed location being the first oddity,no sign posts or indications to its where abouts, and after hours of wild goose chases eventually it was found, iscolated in a forest on a golf course. You dont even know its there til your nearly on top of it!The condition of the cieling isunbelievable, after neatly 800 years its fully intact while the surrounding castle has long since deterierated to 1 wall. The wierdest of all is the hidden stairway leading down some 20feet from inside Goblin Hall, which is underground itself. The hidden starirway is in a corner of the hall shrouded in darkness and could easliy be the death of an unwitting explorer. It desends and bends half way down to a blocked up doorway.the bricks in this doorway are old,so this area hasnt been open for a long time.As far as Ive been able to find, the last resident of Goblin Hall was a groundman for the estate in the late 1700s.maybe he blocked up the doorway below?? rik mono march 2007 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Brendandh (talkcontribs) 13:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

MOve? edit

Given that the Goblin Ha' is a part of Yester Castle, albeit the only surviving part, and that the article covers the history etc. of the whole structure, should the article not be at Yester Castle instead? ::Supergolden:: 16:42, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
