The Kurtz Project edit

Hi! This page previously credited Benjamin Arthur Ellis and Tres Shannon as being members of Big Daddy Meat Straw (BDMS). This is false. Vincent Taggart, AKA, Vince or Vincente De Las Vegas, a former door person at the X Ray Cafe, was in Big Daddy Meat Straw. Other Big Daddy Meat Straw members were: Seth Perry, guitar Jeff Nelson, drums; Slim Tissue, bass; Robin Banks, vocals; Nook Nook, clown; and Lupi, schizophrenic clown. The Kurtz Project was (and still is, they reunite for shows): Benjamin Arthur Ellis, bass; Marnie Thompson, violin; Tres Shannon, vocals; and Travis Kurtz, drums.

References include: The Mercury, "Live Music and Other Activities: A Look Back at the Late, Great X-Ray Cafè" by Sean Tejaratchi, 11-9-2000; and Major Records 1992 release, 45" record, Big Daddy Meat Straw produced by Thee Slayer Hippy at Smegma Studios and mixed by John Lindahl at Fresh Tracks, which lists the band members as written above.

More significant is that I was present, so I know this to be true, but also, there are no references supporting that Tres and Ben were in BDMS. Thanks! This is fun. Birdrainbows (talk) 06:27, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

More Kurtz Project references edit

In case more proof is needed, these cited works are already referenced on the x-ray cafe wikipedia page (as is the mercury link above). These articles show that Ben and Tres were in the Kurtz Project as opposed to Big Daddy Meat Straw (which is never mentioned in relation to the duo in any of the existing references): The Oregonian, "X-Ray Cafe does it up proud, closing in eclectic blaze of glory," Marty Hughley, 9-22-94; and The Oregonian, "Exit the X-Ray," Marty Hughley, 8-17-94.
