Lifeguard edit

I'm a Lifeguard at YMCA, and I've never heard any information related to the competition or the 'high level' requirement. Most of the information I've heard related to WEM Water park had always been extremely negative. My boss and co-work who have more knowledge about it said there's many major accidents(spinal, broke/fracture bone(s), major bleeding) occurs every week. Although I don't have first hand knowledge, I would said it might be good idea to remove the information about staff until physical proof can be provided. That means on paper from neutral or actual event notice hosted for lifeguard competition. I will say any manager representative statement could not count since they will most likely deny any negative incidents. -Kullwarrior —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kullwarrior (talkcontribs) 03:14, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Discrepancy: Maximum Capacity edit

The offending sentence:

"It (the West Edmonton Mall World Waterpark) has a maximum capacity of 40,000 guests, an average temperature for the water of 30-33 °C (86-89 °F), and is the world's largest indoor wave pool holding 12.3 million litres."

Not sure where the 40,000 guest capacity is referenced, but as per this brochure:

http://www.wem.ca/pdf/big-fun-brochure.pdf

The rental capacity for 3 hours is a MAXIMUM of 1,800 guests, which can be expanded to 2,000 guests by purchasing extra tickets. However, the same policy applies to the Galaxyland Amusement Park (1,800 guests, with option to include up to 2,000 guests on a per-ticket basis, similar to the World Waterpark).

So the real question: is the 2,000 guest capacity listed in the PDF brochure a management-based capacity decision for the World Waterpark, or is the 2,000-guest capacity the licensed maximum with lifeguard equivalent staff on full duty (every possible shift filled for a specific period)?

Maybe an e-mail verification with management or a picture of an on-site safety placard could resolve this issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.168.72 (talk) 04:23, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Worlds Largest Tourist Attraction? edit

The opening paragraph claims that "it is the world's largest shopping and entertainment complex as well as the world's largest tourist attraction". It's not clear if referring to the Mall or the water park; I'm assuming the mall but the sentences are awkward. I don't believe either claim is true. Many malls have overtaken WEM in terms of size. See List of largest shopping malls. Also I'm not sure how anyone could accurately claim any one thing to be the worlds largest tourist attraction. This appears to have gone unchallenged since October of 2017... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.158.74.47 (talk) 04:36, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

What happened to the slideboarding game? edit

At WEM the slideboarding minigame has been off for a really long time. I asked a couple employees, I got around 2019. The slideboards have been taken out, with white ones, that have some circuity and sometimes gpio wires. All screens are off, slideboarding equipment is still there except for the boards. Any ideas on what happened? 2604:3D09:6E83:B700:EFDD:3723:C810:940 (talk) 02:07, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
