Epidemic or Pandemic?

edit

Wouldn't it be a Pandemic not an epidemic, because when it is intercontinental it is Pandemic not epidemic. And of course it is "World No tobacco Day"--Runningcupcake03 18:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deaths per year

edit

So, reading this article, I realized that it had two statistics each saying different yearly tobacco-related death tolls. In the intro paragraph, it says 3.5 million yearly deaths, and then in the History section, it says 400,000 deaths yearly. Which one is right? Iridescence talkcontrib 01:40, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lack of clarity, as might be expected in POV articles. The former figure is the WHO estimate on worldwide deaths attributable to tobacco use; the latter is the high-end estimate from the WHO and our own NIH for tobacco-related deaths in the U.S.
As far as a Wiki article goes - these stats need a citation, easily available to anyone who wants to add one. Sensei48 (talk) 05:34, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

5.4 million deaths should be the correct figure, considering that the title of this article is WORLD No Tobacco Day. There could be a subsection on American deaths, and then the figure of 400,000 would be correct.Flatspider (talk) 20:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
