Barvarossa

  • In Barbarossa, I added details on Richthofen for 1941 and 1942. I also removed Manstein from command of Army Group South, since it was Bock during the 1942 summer offensive and Stalingrad. I added Hayward's excellent book as a reference.Dcheng (talk) 03:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Death of Red Baron

According to "Who Killed the Red Baron? Explore Competing Theories" (PBS, NOVA, 2003), Wolfram was materially involved in the sequence of action that resulted in the Red Baron's death. Should it be mentioned into this article? According to Nova, Wolfram was attacked by Wop May, and that the Red Baron came in behind to engage Wop May, and was in turn attacked by Roy Brown, ... This was one of the first engagements of Wolfram upon his arrival to Jasta 11. 76.66.193.119 (talk) 07:51, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Missing sections: Italian Campaign and subsections

Looks like sections for the Italian Campaign were added to the end but no content appears there. I'd expect to see some coverage of, say the [Air raid on Bari]. Is this a work in progress? Hzoi (talk) 18:47, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

My fault. I got distracted. Article needs re-writing again. Dapi89 (talk) 10:06, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

GA Nomination

I think this article is close to GA, but as it has uncited paragraphs, I would fail it automatically under the criteria. Suggest withdrawing the nomination, and re-nominating once this has been addressed. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 04:53, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

@Dapi89:, he was the main author of this article. Cheers MisterBee1966 (talk) 09:47, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
I have quickfailed this GA, it has a number of uncited paragraphs and doesn't meet criteria 2b., it is also over 15,000 words in length, and my assessment is that it doesn't meet 3b. due to a significant amount of unnecessary detail. All GA nominators should communicate with the major contributors before nominating an article they have not significantly contributed to. Overly detailed article

Please see: Talk:Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen/GA1. I tagged the article accordingly. K.e.coffman (talk) 04:46, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

I am trimming the article of intricate detail in an attempt to reduce its size. If anybody would like to join in or has some concerns, please let me know. K.e.coffman (talk) 21:55, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
I reverted this edit diff, as the article has been tagged as excessively detailed. The article was also quick failed during GA review for length. If there's a justification for this material to be restored, please discuss on the Talk page. K.e.coffman (talk) 19:15, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
@Dapi89: The article has been stable since Oct 2016, and the restoration of material needs to be discussed, per WP:BRD. K.e.coffman (talk) 16:55, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
It has been stable until you began your customary deletions. Dapi89 (talk) 16:27, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
I've made the edits for concision & to reduce extraneous detail. The article is overly detailed as noted by Peacemaker in the section immediately above: I have quickfailed this GA, (...) it is over 15,000 words in length, and my assessment is that it doesn't meet 3b. due to a significant amount of unnecessary detail. But I see that you've started trimming the article yourself. I felt the early life sections were not following the WP:summary style if I recall correctly. You could look up my edits and see if you like anything there. K.e.coffman (talk) 18:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Photo Caption

In the photo of Bock, Richtofen, et al, it isn't very clear who's who of the two in the middle. Also, I think that the translation from the German resulting in 'back side' is unfortunate. Back side, or backside, has connotations in English that I don't think we want.Toyokuni3 (talk) 04:03, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

I for one find it amusing. If you want to, change it. Dapi89 (talk) 18:23, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

excel

"he did not excel at foreign languages (in which he scored average to poor results)"

Is it expected that he should excel? If not, "he scored average to poor results in foreign languages" is enough, isn't it? 2001:1BA8:143A:9D00:50E3:C413:6766:D05 (talk) 17:19, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
