Etymology?

Does anybody know where the name "White City" derives from? Id guess its a fairly modern coinage but who knows. 92.235.178.44 (talk) 08:22, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

- Yes. Update made. Note that the Dimco buildings aren't actually used for passengers to catch buses from; the bus 'station' in that sense is outside to the West, which is a shame as the public doesn't get to see inside. They act as a depot where buses can park and presumably contain facilities for drivers such as toilets and refreshments (some evidence for this would be good). Also I removed the word redevelopment as this is normally used to mean demolition followed by a new construction. Westfield 'referred to' as White City? edit
"In 2008, Westfield shopping centre was opened, referred to by Londoners as 'White City'" Is there any evidence for this? I've never heard anyone call it that. 87.194.80.255 (talk) 19:22, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
