Copyright concerns edit

The History section consists largely of text copied verbatim from this page on Westport's corporate site. In addition to comparing the pages visually, the {{close paraphrasing}} tag I placed at the section top has a link to a duplication detector tool which can show the similarities. That website has a copyright notice displayed at the bottom, making it a non-free, copyrighted source.

Wikipedia's copyright policies state that in order to utilize copied material from other publications/websites, Wikipedia needs verification that this material is compatibly licensed - that is, it must permit both modification and reuse, even commercial reuse. The owner of this content must follow the steps listed at WP:IOWN to release this content into the public domain. Even if this is granted, it must still satisfy the core policies of neutrality and verifiability. Also, if you belongs to or represent the company, you would be in a conflict of interest position, and would have to declare your interest so that other editors could ensure that the content adheres to these two policies. I hope that this has cleared up the matter. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 17:30, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've done a search of the OTRS email system and have not found your letter. Accordingly, the material has been removed for now. You may wish to resend your permission. Once it is received and processed, the material may be restored. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:21, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
It arrived today. --SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:06, 2 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Since the matter appears resolved, I've removed the PermissionOTRS|id=2012060110011354 tag from the main article. It seems to belong better on the talk page than in the main article.
