Obverse image

Hello, I am not a medal expert but I wondered if the image shown of the obverse of this medal is correct. The text refers to a crowned head and the head shown in the image is uncrowned. All of the images and actual medals I have seen show a crowned head. Also, the legend in the text and on the image are different to other examples I have seen. I think the legend should be: GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP. rather than: GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP.YulfricTheWise (talk) 11:02, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are correct. The obverse image is of the Defence Medal, not the War medal. I was looking at my Father's and first thought he had put the ribbon on the wrong medal! —Preceding unsigned comment added by TonyGHarris (talkcontribs) 18:44, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in War Medal 1939–1945

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of War Medal 1939–1945's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Regulations":

  • From Arctic Star: Committee on the Grant of Honours, Decorations and Medals in Time of War (May 1945). "Campaign Stars and the Defence Medal (Regulations)". London: HM Stationery Office. Retrieved 2010-08-01.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:54, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
