Talk:Victor Kravchenko (defector)

Did Kravchenko seek rapprochement with post-Stalin USSR?

edit

Malaurie, Guillaume, L’affaire Kravchenko (1982) reports (p. 223) there were rumors that Kravchenko had written to Leonid Brezhnev (an acquaintance from the 1920s at Dnepropetrovsk) offering "repentance" for the release of his parents from prison. If anyone has read the most recent Kravchenko biography, Gary Kern, The Kravchenko case : one man’s war on Stalin (2007), they might be able to answer this. "KGB" is the name readers are most likely to recognize. It had gone through several name changes (eg "NKVD" during the Great Purge), but by 1949 was called "MGB," now obscure. Hcunn (talk) 13:43, 10 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
