"Verbandsgemeinde" translationEdit

What is the exact English translation of the term "Verbandsgemeinde"? --Criticalthinker 22:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, I think this type of government is a form of a county with more power than a traditional US county or a Verwaltungsgemeindschaft. You can't say it is a collective municipiality because people could think you mean a super city. A Verbandsgemeinde is not trying to re-organize settlements, rather it carries out various functions of city government, such as resident registrations and summary prosecution of civil infractions (traffic ticket, etc.).

I am thinking about writing an article "counties in European countries" and put links in there to the articles "amt", "Verwaltungsgemeindschaft" and "Verbandgemeinde". I think that would clarify a lot and relate articles of the same complex matter. Chris.usnames (talk) 17:57, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why are Districts in this article?Edit

Who put the districts of Rhineland-Palatinate into this article? Is there any common sense reason for this? They belong into the article districts in Rhineland-Palatinate, not into an article about the Verbandsgemeinde. Also scrap this map and put a new one, which shows the Verbandsgemeinde counties of Rhineland-Palatinate, in. Chris.usnames (talk) 18:03, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have removed both lists. There is a link to the categories further down the article anyway. Agathoclea (talk) 12:43, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
