Page moved to Unorganized areas of Kenora District. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:57, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kenora, UnorganizedUnorganized Kenora District – Requesting this be moved. A discussion into moving all unorganized areas didn't pick up any steam, and so I'm nominating clear-cut cases to begin a transition of the Unorganized areas in Ontario to simpler naming schemes, more consistent with every day grammar. The only argument for keeping the status quo is that the current names are the official names on Statscan Documents. In my opinion, this is not true. These are areas without a geographical entity maintaining them (ie no local government). As such, they are not official incorporated places, but just the areas not occupied by official, incorporated places.

WP:COMMONNAME suggests not using the "Official name" when it is inappropriate. Given the structure of this title, I feel it is inappropriate and that "Unorganized Kenora District" makes far more sense to describe the geographical portions of the District of Kenora lacking a municipal government. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 16:32, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why was this moved to a different title than I suggested? The new name is even more unweildly and there was no reasoning provided for it. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 01:46, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I agree, this move solves nothing and should be reverted until a proper discussion can be had on unorganized areas in all Census divisions.vıdıoman 19:42, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I disagree with new name too. So, to settle all unorganized areas in Ontario as per discussion at Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board/Archive 14#Unorganized areas in Ontario, I propose the following:

Unorganized areas of Kenora DistrictUnorganized Kenora District – Simplification, but not over simplified to ensure for continuity and consistency with official census designations, see also Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board#Unorganized areas in Ontario. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 15:21, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Support all although I'd love to see the direction done away with for districts with one unorganized area, this is at the very least a good working compromise. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 00:48, 9 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
